If you are in town for Thanksgiving, and just need to get away and write, we have added a new write-in on Friday, Nov. 25th. We’ll be at Wild Iris Books / Cafe Colette from 2 pm – 4 pm – one of this year’s “Come Write In” bookstores.
Take a break from the post Thanksgiving slump, or even your holiday shopping (perhaps even get more shopping done between word wars), and come boost your word count as we near the end of the month.

Be sure to join us for our “Big Event” at the Library West Info Commons next Tuesday, Nov. 15th.
The event runs from 5 -10 pm, and is co-sponsored by the UF Libraries. This year we have local author Lee Roland joining us from 5:45-6:15. Following her chat/ question session will be a word war to win a copy of her book Viper Moon.
We will be joined via live chat from 7-7:30 pm by Eleanor Brown, author of The Weird Sisters, with a word war following for a chance to win a copy of her book.
Finally, from 8:30-9 pm we will be joined via chat by author of the Parasol Protectorate series, Gail Carriger. The subsequent word war will be for a copy of her book Soulless.
If you are unable to join us in person, please join us via the Gainesville NaNo chat room for the chat with our guest authors, for the opportunity to ask them questions.

With the end of Meebo Rooms, we were left scrambling to find an alternate chat room that we could use for online write-ins, and for our authors to join us for our Nov. 15th Big Event. I finally found one with Mibbit, and have managed to update our chat room page with the new room.
The chat is open for online write-ins, and general conversation. If you sign in, change the random username to one you’ll remember, so that you can more easily participate in the chat. If you come across problems, let us know, and I’ll do my best to figure them out. Since it is a new –to-me interface, and it is a little more technical than the Meebo Rooms were, I’m not sure where the learning curve will be, but I’ll try to resolve problems as quickly as possible.

Stuck in your novel? Have an idea you can’t use, but someone else might think is gold?
Check out the Online Jar.
A computerized version of the jar that travels to all regional events, this is a quick place to get a suggestion. Check out the 2011 jar, and add to it, or check out jars from past years in the drop down.

Hi guys, this site is not forgotten, just last on the list for updates for the year. Go check out the regional forums at http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/regions/usa-florida-gainesville and introduce yourself.
We’ll be adding a calender of events here, and once we find a replacement for the now retired and unsupported Meebo Room for the author chat in November, it’ll be housed here.
Looking forward to meeting ya’ll at the Meet & Greet on Oct. 29th, from 10- 12 at the Alachua County Library Headquarters room A.
-Christy

We are reinstating this site for NaNo WriMo 2010. We will list our local regional events here, as well as in the NaNo WriMo forums, and there is a portal page to the online jar and a chatroom that you can use for online word wars and write-ins.
With that said, there is also need for disclaimer this year: This is not an official NaNowriMo site, and the content has not been reviewed by National Novel Writing Month. For more information on National Novel Writing Month, visit www.nanowrimo.org
Yep, this site is run by your local Municipal Liaisons, but is not *officially* affiliated with the NaNo WriMo site – we just wanted to provide an extra outlet for you to get your local information.
