This is the end-all, be-all list of events that the Municipal Liaisons of the Gainesville, FL region are organizing. Here you will find dates, times, directions and more.
We may have “on the fly” meet-ups, so be sure to check the blog on the front page for updates, or, as always, the Gainesville, Fl regional lounge in the forums on the NaNo WriMo website.

Day One Write-In
WHEN: Saturday Nov. 1, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
WHERE: Library West, room 429
WHY: Let’s start this puppy off right. A chance to get going on your novel in the company of others who have taken on this crazy challenge. Even those in our sister region, Peoria, IL. Let’s get ready to show them what we’re made of!

Daylight Savings Write-In
WHEN: Saturday Nov. 1, 9 pm – Sun. Nov. 2, 2:30 am
WHERE: Christy’s House (address will be provided later – sent out by regional e-mail and on regional forum)
WHY: Daylight savings “Fall Back” now happens in November. Let’s take advantage of that extra hour, and write from 1-2 am, reset the clocks, and write it again!

Write-In

WHERE: Meeting Room A – Alachua County Library Headquarters
WHY: A chance up your word count in the company of other writers.

Downtown Gainesville, four blocks east of Main street – in front of the Post Office.
Write-In
WHEN: Saturday Nov. 8; 10:00 am – 2 pm
WHERE: Library West, room 429
WHY: A chance up your word count in the company of other writers. Including our sister region – word war anyone?

Veteran’s Day Write-In
WHEN: Tuesday Nov. 11; 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
WHERE: Williamson Hall – Geology Department Conference Room
WHY: Day off work? No classes? Come prove that Writing Rocks – drop by and join us on this holiday in the Geology department
DIRECTIONS: Williamson Hall is on Stadium Road, beside the Hub, and catty-corner across from the Florida Gym. Conference room is on the 2nd floor.
To get to Williamson Hall you must first find a parking spot. Luckily the University is closed so we can park almost anywhere!
Williamson Hall is located on Stadium Road between the College of Journalism (Weimer Hall) and The Hub. There is a small parking lot next to it, as well as one across the street from it, but your best bet would be parking at the Reitz or at the O’Dome and walking up.
From the Reitz, you’ll walk north (towards Ben Hill Griffin Stadium) across the quad. Journalism will be directly a head of you with Williamson Hall diagonally to your right.
From the O’ Connell Center, you’ll walk south (towards the back side of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium) on Gayle Lemerand Dr. to Stadium Road and hang a left. Williamson Hall will be on the right side of the road just past Journalism.
Once you are inside Williamson Hall, just follow the signs.
Ice Cream Social and Fundraiser
WHEN: Wednesday Nov. 12; 7:00-8:30 pm
WHERE: Sweet Dreams Ice Cream
WHY: A chance to take a break, chat with other writers, eat ice cream, and raise money for NaNo WriMo.
The NaNo WriMo Ice cream cup will be on sale from 5:30 – 9 pm, so invite your family and friends, help raise money for the Office of Letter and Light.

Movie Day: Stranger Than Fiction
WHEN: Sunday Nov. 16; 2:00 pm – 5:00pm
WHERE: Meeting Room – Tower Road Branch – Alachua County Library
WHY: A chance to take a break from writing, and watch a movie with other writers, about a writer. We have the room from 1:30, and the movie will start at 2:00 sharp.

Okay this is on Tower Road, closer to Archer than to University – if you choose to go up SW 20th to get to Tower Road, take a left on Tower (75th St)
Write In – the Big Event
WHEN: Wednesday Nov. 19; 5:00 pm – 10 pm
WHERE: Info Commons – Library West
WHY: Hit the middle-of-the month slump? Come to the middle-of-the-month Write in. Commiserate with others, get your write on, and listen to local writers (TBA) give inspiration.

Bowling
WHEN: Sunday Nov. 23; time TBD
WHERE: TBD – Alley Katz (?)
WHY: Take a break from words and bowl a few frames. Or bring your words with you and write between frames. Bowl in character, get more ideas. Let’s have some fun.

Pre-Thanksgiving Write-in
WHEN: Tuesday Nov. 25; 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
WHERE: Books Inc./Book Lover’s Cafe – Art Gallery
WHY: Going away for Thanksgiving? Staying home and vegging? This is a chance to get a boost of words before the holiday.

Write In – the Final Push
WHEN: Sunday Nov. 30; 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
WHERE: Info Commons – Library West
WHY: We return to the Info Commons to get our write on. Last day to crank out words towards our goal, this will be a day concentrated on writing. Let’s cross that finish line!
